Sometimes you can't fit 'alleged,' 'accused,' 'claim,' or 'suspect' in your headlines, so you use quotes. In the body of the story:

"...claim Amara and another five suspects were involved in the bomb plot."

"...alleging is a home-grown terrorist cell..."

...and so on.

Can _you_ explain why the Star didn't use the quotes in the body of the story, if Loyalist's theory is true? Why not put scare quotes around every instance of the word?J0hnnyBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04383265194588741019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11453282.post-1149604922575246202006-06-06T10:42:00.000-04:002006-06-06T10:42:00.000-04:00The quotes are there because none of the allegatio...The quotes are there because none of the allegations has been proven in a court of law. Bloggers may not care that people are innocent until proven guilty, but some in the real media still do.

God, it really gets your goat that the Post got so soundly scooped, doesn't it?J0hnnyBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04383265194588741019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11453282.post-1149602710216566302006-06-06T10:05:00.000-04:002006-06-06T10:05:00.000-04:00don't like it? read a different paper, try the "Su...don't like it? read a different paper, try the "Sun".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11453282.post-1149600137276405672006-06-06T09:22:00.000-04:002006-06-06T09:22:00.000-04:00I suppose it's to be expected.
