National Guard Takes Charge

The National Guard is going into New Orleans.

Finally!

New Orleans has gone to hell; thugs whose appetites weren't sated by looting have turned to shooting at rescue boats and helicopters, carjackings, even raping women inside the Superdome.

Every thug that has to be dealt with slows down the rescue efforts and condemns innocent people to die as surely as if they had shot them full of lead.

While Governor Kathleen Blanco wrung her hands and wept on live TV, the Guard was left to twiddle its thumbs, and people died needlessly. Now it's time for the big boys to do the job that elected officials and New Orleans police couldn't or wouldn't do.

Some bloggers have started calling these thugs terrorists or insurgents, not unlike their counterparts in Baghdad. Right now, it's an apposite comparison. If they're shooting police and military who are attempting to restore the legitimate authority of the governments of the United States, the state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans, then they are in a state of insurrection against those governments, and should be treated accordingly.

Follow this guy's blog for more details about the chaos in New Orleans.
