Profiles In Sentencing

David Radler gets 29 months in jail, a $250,000 fine as part of a plea bargain for defrauding Hollinger.

Paul Coffin gets two years house arrest and a speaking tour on business ethics for defrauding the taxpayers of Canada.

Which country takes corporate greed and fraud more seriously?

I have come to the conclusion that the national persona is now just like a battered woman. All one needs to do is say your sorry, sound contrite and promise never to do it again and all is forgiven.

Heck,

I know a woman who defauded the province of Ontario for $250,000 in a welfare scam up in Sudbury - she got a year house arrest! Pathetic!
