Pre-Emptive Strike

Check out the latest Conservative TV ad.

The war room has learned from the 2004 campaign that while people decry negative advertising, they'll lap it up every time.

What better way to work both sides of the equation than with a negative ad that warns of the Liberal negative ad blitz to come?

I'm not a big fan of this Ad. It smacks of the "Jean Chretian" face ad that was so criticized in the 90's. I think the Liberal Media will be all over this AD saying that the Conservatives are the first to go negative....

A bad move me thinks.

I have to disagree.

I think that the ad is pure genius. It is an innoculation against the negative smear jobs the Liberals have used against us in every election since '93

Don't confuse this with the '93 ad showing JC's distorted face - Martin has no such "disabled" features, (unless you count his lying eyes).

I still think we need to do more in our TV & print advertising, but I think this is a good start to the second half of the campaign.

Now, every time the voters see a Librano$ negative ad on TV, they will think back on the CPC ad, and say, "gee, they were right, these ads are negative".

Remember, negative ads are used for a reason - they WORK! People may hate them, but they work.

Just be aware that there is a line that can be crossed and backfire on you - the '93 Chretien face ad was one that crossed the line.

Right now, we are on target. 23 days to go...
